An indictment of the Bush administration
Vice President Dick Cheney had some information pertaining to the CIA leak case. Cheney’s chief of staff,
I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, has been indicted. And President Bush’s shadow, Karl Rove, had some yet-to-be-defined knowledge. But what about Bush himself? Either he knew about it, or he’s been left out of the White House’s inner circle. If this potentially criminal blunder would have happened to a Democratic president, he would most certainly be facing an angry Republican impeachment mob.

Friday’s indictment of Vice President Cheney’s chief of staff is more than an indictment of the behavior of Libby. It is also an indictment of the whole Bush administration, and its determination to invade Iraq, whatever the evidence. Bush and Cheney have been lying to us on Iraq from the start. Why should we expect anything different from their top aides?

While no close member of my family is overseas in Iraq, I can only imagine the level of anger that families with loved ones must feel right now. Our government lied to us about this war from Day 1, and now, with 2,000 dead and no idea what the outcome will be, the indictments are coming. Does anyone really think that just Libby was involved? The entire senior staff put forth lies after lies, so it will be interesting to see what is next.
President Bush, if the goal of your administration was failure -- mission accomplished.

I nominate special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald for the Supreme Court. Judging by his press conference Friday, he is a paragon of integrity, competence and communication skill.
