Delta to Cut 1,000 Jobs and Sell 11 of Its Jets

Delta Air Lines Inc. will cut 1,000 jobs as part of service reductions in Cincinnati, its second-largest hub, and sell 11 wide-body jets in what the carrier said was a bid to restructure faster.
The moves come amid widespread speculation that the No. 3 U.S. carrier will become the latest to seek bankruptcy protection as it struggles with high fuel and pension costs. Delta is widely seen as the weakest major U.S. airline, followed by Northwest Airlines Corp.
Delta shares were unchanged at $1.12.
