They have experience in catching flak

I just finished Jane Engle’s article “Since 9/11, the Emergence of the Teflon Tourist” [Travel Insider, Sept. 11].
Thank you very much for your accurate appraisal of the traveling public. As a 27-year, well-seasoned flight attendant, I can say that for the most part your assessment was well-placed.
However, the constraints of the security searches and wait times at airports weigh heavily on the traveling public and their irritations are transferred, in part, to the flight attendants once on board the aircraft.
One other note: International flying is very demanding, and language issues ensue daily for those traveling to and from Europe. I encourage you to suggest to our fellow travelers to become knowledgeable about the destination language and at least try speaking some of the local language.
