House OKs Intelligence Funding Measure

The House approved an intelligence funding bill that provides budgeting guidelines for 16 U.S. spy agencies and the office of National Intelligence Director John D. Negroponte.
The measure’s total cost is classified, but spending for intelligence agencies is believed to top $40 billion a year. Some Democrats tried to block the measure to protest the fact that Republicans would not allow adequate debate on the legality of the National Security Agency’s warrantless surveillance program, but it passed 327 to 96.
