A Rwandan immigrant accused of ordering the killing of Tutsis dragged out of an ambulance during the 1994 genocide has been arrested and charged with war crimes and torture, a prosecution spokeswoman said.
Prosecutors identified the man as 38-year-old Joseph M. and said his brother, identified as Obed R., had been sentenced to 25 years in prison on a genocide conviction at an international tribunal.
The suspect briefly appeared before a court at The Hague and will be tried in the Netherlands. If convicted, he faces a maximum of life in prison, prosecution spokeswoman Desiree Leppens said.
