And What About Those 10-2 Bruins?
UCLA is not getting proper respect for last season’s 10-2 record because that record is deceiving -- analogous to the Texas League blooper that barely falls in for a hit but will “look like a line drive” in the paper.
Local football fans, even Bruin faithful, surely must recognize that but for a bounce here, a penalty there, or a truly lucky play or two, that 10-2 record might just as easily have been 6-6. If the Bruins are going to get the respect Dan Guerrero believes they deserve, they’ll have to show us that last year’s success was not a fluke. But I’m afraid they’re still at least a couple of years away.
