Girl, 11, Suspected in Beating Death of Sister

A 5-year-old girl who authorities say died after being beaten by her 11-year-old half-sister was identified Monday as Cheyanne Taylor.
The half-sister was baby-sitting Cheyanne and her younger brother Friday evening at their home in Rancho San Diego, an unincorporated area east of La Mesa, sheriff’s officials said. When the father returned home a few hours later, the 11-year-old told him Cheyanne was not breathing, officials said.
The girl was taken to a hospital and placed on life support but died the next day.
The sister, whose name was not released, was in custody at juvenile hall. The brother was taken to an emergency shelter.
