Red Wings Rout Canucks

Jason Williams scored twice and Pavel Datsyuk added a goal and two assists to help the Detroit Red Wings stay on top in the NHL standings with a 7-3 romp over the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday night at Vancouver, Canada.
Williams and Tomas Holmstrom scored 40 seconds apart early in the first period and Nicklas Lidstrom added a power-play goal midway through the period as Detroit raced to a sixth straight win. Datsyuk made it 4-0 on a breakaway 1:30 into the second to keep the Red Wings atop the NHL with 99 points, one more than Ottawa.
Vancouver has lost six of its last seven to drop into a tie with the Mighty Ducks for eighth place in the Western Conference with 78 points. The Canucks have played three more games than the Ducks.
San Jose 6, Colorado 5 -- Alyn McCauley’s wrist shot broke a tie with 4:13 left and lifted the Sharks at San Jose.
Patrick Marleau scored two power-play goals for the Sharks and recorded his 400th NHL point on the first.
A rusty Evgeni Nabokov gave up all five Colorado goals and made 24 saves. He had missed five games because of a strained stomach muscle.
Toronto 1, Pittsburgh 0 -- Chad Kilger scored on a penalty shot with 6:51 remaining and Mikael Tellqvist made 21 saves in a game that was delayed twice by power failures at Pittsburgh.
Penguin President Ken Sawyer said there also was a small fire in Mellon Arena, apparently related to the electrical outages. The blaze was at an electrical panel by a ramp near the seating area, but no evacuations were necessary, Sawyer said.
Ottawa 4, New Jersey 0 -- Dany Heatley’s power-play goal keyed a three-goal second period, and Ray Emery made 22 saves at East Rutherford, N.J., as the Senators regained sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference.
Calgary 3, Minnesota 2 -- Daymond Langkow and Jarome Iginla each had a goal and an assist at St. Paul, Minn., in the Flames’ first road win in more than a month.
Tampa Bay 5, New York Islanders 2 -- Ruslan Fedotenko scored a tiebreaking goal midway through the third period at Tampa, Fla.
Fedotenko made it 3-2 with 10:43 left on a deflection from in close. Fredrik Modin’s shot hit an Islander defender and was redirected toward Fedotenko.
Phoenix 3, Chicago 2 -- Curtis Joseph made 34 saves and Steven Reinprecht set up two goals for the Blackhawks at Chicago.
The Blackhawks went 0 for 5 on the power play and are in an 0-for-26 skid over seven games.
