Voters fooled again

Re “With bonds approved, the line for billions forms,” Nov. 9
The Times printed a list of 15 long-overdue state projects that, with the passage of various bond issues, will now get attention. Governments run on taxes, without which nothing gets done. What is the difference between a tax-raising liberal and a bond-pushing conservative? One says, “Let’s tax and pay as we go.” The other says, “Let’s use our credit card and let our children pay. Besides, we will handle the loan and make a ton on the interest.” The voters have been fooled again. Taxes must be raised to repay bonds; only now the projects will cost double.
