‘Simpsons’ get taken for a thrill ride

As most everyone knows by now, “The Simpsons,” after 17 years as a Fox TV series, is finally getting big-screen respect this summer with a movie version. How do you top that?
How about a theme park attraction?
Universal is set to unveil plans today for a “Simpsons” thrill ride at its parks in the San Fernando Valley and Orlando, Fla. The attraction will open in spring 2008, the studio said. Few details were immediately available except that the setting of the ride would be a “fantasy amusement park” dreamed up by the show’s Krusty the Clown and that it would feature the voices of the actors who work behind the scenes on the long-running animated series.
“The ride is designed to duplicate ‘The Simpsons’ home-viewing experience, only at high speed and with lots of screaming,” said “Simpsons” creator Matt Groening.
