What’s wrong with Republicans

Re “GOP confessional,” editorial, March 11
The recent articles about tainted Republican presidential candidates Rudolph W. Giuliani (adulterer and bully) and Newt Gingrich (adulterer and hypocrite) expose two factors very forcefully.
One, there is a scarcity of viable, moral right-wing contenders. Two, the current administration, having already vandalized a good portion of our social system, environment, military and image, has also eaten its own presidential babies. Once-brilliant luminaries such as former Secretary of State Colin Powell, current Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and former Interior Secretary Gale Norton have been exposed and discredited as shameless political and ideological operatives. Bush Inc. has poisoned the next generation of conservative contenders, and we are left with a few puzzling reprobates. I only have one reaction: What a relief that they, and their entire movement, have been revealed for what they are.
