Garden Grove woman, 81, died of beating

An 81-year-old woman found dead Wednesday in her Garden Grove home had been beaten to death, authorities said.
The victim, identified as Betsy Ross Pigg, was said to have been a descendant of Betsy Ross, the seamstress who reputedly sewed the first U.S. flag.
Meanwhile, Thomas A. Levingston, a 25-year-old computer technician, was arrested Wednesday on an outstanding warrant on a 2005 charge of committing financial elder abuse against Pigg.
Pigg had a restraining order against Levingston, who is a person of interest in the homicide investigation but not a suspect, said Lt. Dennis Ellsworth of the Garden Grove Police Department.
“There are a number of people we are looking at,” he said.
Livingston was being held at Theo Lacy Jail in Orange while awaiting today’s arraignment on the elder-abuse charge.
