at Houston 5, Chicago 4 (11 innings): Luke Scott tripled home the winning run in the 11th inning to help drop the Cubs out of a first-place tie with Milwaukee in the NL Central. The Cubs wasted a bases-loaded threat in the top of the 11th.
* Colorado 8, at Philadelphia 2: Matt Holliday hit two homers and Franklin Morales (1-2) threw five scoreless innings to help the Rockies stay 3 1/2 games behind San Diego in the NL wild-card standings. The Phillies now trail by 2 1/2 games.
* at San Francisco 2, Arizona 1: Dan Ortmeier tripled to start the eighth inning and scored the go-ahead run on Pedro Feliz’s sacrifice fly to help end the Diamondbacks’ six-game winning streak. Arizona has a 2 1/2 -game lead in the NL West.
* at Cincinnati 7, St. Louis 2: Adam Dunn hit a grand slam and a solo homer to help extend the Cardinals’ losing streak to five games. Cardinals right fielder Rick Ankiel let a fly ball drop for a double, then let another deflect off his glove for a two-run error.
* Atlanta 13, at New York 5: Mark Teixeira hit a three-run homer and the Braves chased Orlando Hernandez (9-5) during a six-run fourth, batting around to take a 9-0 lead.
* at Florida 13, Washington 8: Hanley Ramirez homered twice and Mike Jacobs drove in five runs to lead the Marlins. The Marlins had a season-high 21 hits and scored in seven innings.
* Milwaukee 6, at Pittsburgh 1: Rickie Weeks had three hits, reached four times and scored twice in the Brewers’ victory.
* Padres 9, at Dodgers 4: Jake Peavy won his NL-leading 17th game and the Padres supported him with four home runs.
