Woman charged in N.Y. ad scam

A San Diego woman faces felony charges in New York for selling phony advertisements that were to appear in New York-based newspapers.
Julia Sorokin, 28, was arrested in San Diego on Dec. 2 and arraigned Thursday in New York on eight counts of identity theft. Sorokin allegedly solicited ads from luxury resorts and real estate companies, pocketing $29,205 for ad space in the Wall Street Journal and $18,503 for space in the New York Times.
