Hamilton exits ‘Measure’

LisaGay Hamilton is bowing out of the world premiere of Tanya Barfield’s play “Of Equal Measure” -- commissioned by Center Theatre Group and set to run July 11-29 at CTG’s Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City -- citing personal reasons. She will be replaced by Michole Briana White, who has appeared in off-Broadway, regional or touring productions of plays by August Wilson and Suzan-Lori Parks, among other stage, film and TV work
A CTG spokesman confirmed that the departure was Hamilton’s decision. Hamilton’s agent, Chris Schmidt, said: “LisaGay is a very private person. She wishes everyone involved in the production the best and great success with the show.”
The drama, directed by Leigh Silverman, is set in World War I America and provides a view of the Woodrow Wilson presidency through the eyes of an African American stenographer working at the White House.
