Older worker gets the cold shoulder

Regarding your Aug. 31 cover story, “Landing a hot job in a cool economy” (Your Money):
Those so-called hot jobs are scarce for those of us over 50. After being laid off three years ago after 30 years as an executive secretary, I am unable to find any work even though I am willing to take a cut in pay.
I keep up with technology and have availed myself of all the resources you list, plus many you don’t. I can only conclude -- and there is a lot of research to support my conclusion -- that employers do not want to hire older workers.
