Times Wire Reports
TiVo Inc., pioneer of the digital video recorder, said the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office had rejected a patent that’s at the center of a dispute with Dish Network Corp. in the first round of a review.
The patent remains valid and enforceable during the review period, and TiVo will have the chance to respond to the agency’s actions.
TiVo, based in Alviso, Calif., said the agency review had no effect on the appeal of a finding that Dish and EchoStar Corp. violated an order to stop using TiVo’s invention.
