Los Angeles County coroner’s investigators have recovered skeletal remains from a wrecked car that hikers found Sunday in the mountains above Malibu, officials said.
The remains, found in upper Zuma Canyon below Kanan-Dume Road, were being brought to the coroner’s office for identification, investigator Jerry McKibben said Sunday evening.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s investigators and search-and-rescue personnel were sent to the site earlier in the day. It was not known how long the car had been there.
