Field is set for Northern Trust Open

Phil Mickelson, trying to become the first player to win the tournament three years in a row, heads the field committed to play in the Northern Trust Open next week at Riviera Country Club.

Steve Stricker, one spot behind Mickelson at third in the world golf rankings, will also be in the tournament, which runs Thursday through Feb. 7.

Padraig Harrington, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, Vijay Singh and Fred Couples, who finished third last year, will also be in the field.
