CalPERS suit: An article in Business on May 6 about a lawsuit that the California attorney general’s office brought against former officials of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System said one of the defendants paid for a CalPERS employee’s trip to an annual meeting of BlackRock Inc. in Boca Raton, Fla. The state prosecutor said the suit misidentified the firm holding the meeting, but the prosecutor declined to provide the correct name.
Classic Hollywood: The Classic Hollywood column in Wednesday’s Calendar said that visual effects pioneer Ray Harryhausen worked on 1955’s “It Came From Outer Space.” He worked on 1955’s “It Came From Beneath the Sea.” He did not work on “It Came From Outer Space,” which was released in 1953.
Angels baseball: A caption with a photo accompanying a T.J. Simers column May 13 in Sports described Angels pitcher Jered Weaver reacting after Carl Crawford of Tampa Bay scored on a wild pitch. In fact, Crawford came home on a passed ball.
