New York: Two hotels show the power of 1 with a one-day sale on 1-11-11

It’s time to channel your inner New Yorker. That’s the only way these 1-11-11 room deals at Manhattan hotels are going to make sense on Tuesday (Jan. 11, 2011). Tip: Just remember what time zone you’re in and plan accordingly.

Pod Hotel: This quirky bargain hotel with tiny rooms at 230 E. 51st St. will offer queen-bed rooms for $111.11 plus tax per night for those who book Tuesday. Here’s the trick: The booking period runs for 1 hour, 11 minutes starting at 1:11 EST (or 10:11 PST). And reservations are good for stays only through the end of January. Weekend rates are where you’ll save the most money. Queen-bed rooms on weekends in January normally cost $225 plus tax; midweek rates run as low as $119 plus tax.

The Buckingham Hotel: This 100-suite hotel at 101 W. 57th St., known for generously sized accommodations (at least by Manhattan standards), also is enamored with the power of one. It is offering its suite rooms for $111 plus tax per night when you book Tuesday between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. EST (8 a.m. and 8 p.m. PST). But there’s more: During the booking period, just 11 suites may be reserved for each day between Tuesday and March 11.
