Doll fashion designer

If you have a flair for fashion and can anticipate style and consumer trends, than become a doll fashion designer and make your big goals -- tiny.
Doll fashion designers do the same things as regular fashion designers, but instead of finding their work on a runway or in the pages of a magazine, doll fashions go straight into the eager hands of delighted children.
The job can be quite demanding. Doll fashion designers need to develop serious skills and hold a bachelor’s degree in fashion design or a related field before Mattel or any big manufacturer will take them on.
The ability to sketch 2-D and construct 3-D models of fashion designs is a must. And knowledge of the industry’s tools, textiles and colors is essential. The meek and shy need not apply -- doll fashion designers need great presentation skills in order to pitch their ideas and must be able to work with marketers, model-makers, package-designers and others.
Mattel’s iconic Barbie has been a fashion model, astronaut, yoga instructor, and even a U.S. Army officer. So for a doll designer it can be both overwhelming and exciting to meet her demanding fashion needs.
Dressing dolls for a living is not kids’ play. A fashion designer for dolls makes an average salary of $68,000, according to careerbuilder.com.
