Ken and Donna went on vacation and encountered some steep “resort fees,” which can run as much as $50 a day.

The Federal Trade Commission warned hotels and resorts a couple of years ago that these sneaky fees can be considered a deceptive business practice. But that didn’t make them go away.
Many vacation spots still charge them, but they claim they give fair warning to customers — usually in the fine print of booking arrangements.
