Sammy Sosa, the former major league slugger, has purchased an oceanfront estate in Golden Beach, Fla., for $7.6 million.
The two-story home, set on more than half an acre, includes seven bedrooms, 8.5 bathrooms and 7,273 square feet of living space. The house, built in 1998, was designed to take advantage of the ocean views. It has 75 feet of waterfront and a swimming pool.
Sosa, 45, is frequently sighted in Miami. The retired right fielder spent the bulk of his professional career playing for the Chicago Cubs, with whom he had three 60-plus home run seasons. He played in seven All-Star Games. Sosa, who reportedly failed a drug test in 2003 but has denied using steroids, failed to gain election to baseball’s Hall of Fame this year.
