Pitching his home as a summer rental is none other than former San Diego Padres ace Jake Peavy, who is looking to lease out his estate in the Black Mountain Ranch area of San Diego to the tune of $12,000 a month.
The Mediterranean-style home, built in 2009, occupies more than an acre of land in the Santaluz golf course community with a patio with an outdoor kitchen, a sports court, a putting green and a pool and spa. Offering a mix of regional styles, interiors feature decorative columns, exposed-beam ceilings, marble fireplaces and stone flooring.
Within the nearly 7,000 square feet of living space is a den, guesthouse, maid’s quarters, office, five bedrooms and five bathrooms. The master suite touts access to a private courtyard. A four-car garage also resides on the grounds.
Peavy, 33, began his career with the Padres and spent seven seasons with the team, making two All-Star teams and winning the 2007 National League Cy Young Award. He is currently part of the Boston Red Sox rotation.
The pitcher and his wife, Katie, paid $3.5 million for the estate in July 2008, according to public records. Cheryl Berkson of Chase Pacific Property Management is the listing agent.
