Hot Property: L.A. Kings’ Slava Voynov scores modern home in Redondo Beach

Just as the Los Angeles Kings have become staples of the NHL postseason, its players have become staples of L.A.’s beach cities. The latest to buy in the South Bay is defenseman Slava Voynov, who recently paid $2.6 million for a modern home in Redondo Beach.
Built on a narrow lot of just 6,000 square feet, the custom contemporary was designed by Manhattan Beach firm Michael Lee Architects. The design is defined by its clean lines, floor-to-ceiling glass and an overall modern aesthetic.
Telescoping doors on the lower level open to a courtyard with a lap pool. Extended balconies wrap around the upper-level bedroom units. A gourmet kitchen, dining room and living room are among its features.
The South Bay area has become a preferred destination for Kings players. In August 2013, center Jeff Carter paid $5.25 million for a 4,100-square-foot home in Hermosa Beach. In October, team captain Dustin Brown made a $1.75-million purchase in Manhattan Beach with the intention of having a custom home built on the property.
Voynov, 24, was a second-round pick by Los Angeles in 2008. He is in the first year of a six-year, $25-million contract he signed with the Kings last offseason.
