Full cast announced for ‘Big Fish’ Broadway run

Complete casting was announced for movie-turned-musical “Big Fish,” which will transfer to Broadway with its two leads in tow.
Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz (“Dead Accounts”) and Tony nominee Kate Baldwin (“Finian’s Rainbow”), who starred in the recent Chicago production, will reprise their roles for the Broadway run.
The cast will also include Bobby Steggert (“110 in the Shade”), Krystal Joy Brown (“Leap Of Faith”), Anthony Pierini (“Mary Poppins”) and Zachary Unger (“Chaplin”).

“Big Fish” will begin previews Sept. 5 at the Neil Simon Theatre, with an official opening set for Oct. 6.
Five-time Tony winner Susan Stroman (“The Producers”), who helmed the Chicago production, will direct. The production features a book by John August, who also wrote the 2003 film starring Ewan McGregor.
“Big Fish” received warm reviews following its spring pre-Broadway tryout at Chicago’s Oriental Theatre. Chicago Tribune theater critic Chris Jones wrote that, while still in search of “full emotional center,” the show retained “resonance, integrity” and “originality of form.”
Based on the 1998 novel by Daniel Wallace and the Tim Burton film that followed, “Big Fish” hinges on the relationship between a father who spins tall tales and his by-the-book son.
