Miley Cyrus wasn’t much of a TV ratings wrecking ball Sunday night, according to early numbers from Nielsen.
NBC’s two-hour “Miley Cyrus: Bangerz Tour” special averaged 2 million viewers overall and a rating of 0.7 among 18- to 49-year-olds, which is the demographic most desired by advertisers.
The network’s telecast included concert and backstage footage from the “We Can’t Stop” singer’s tour, focusing on shows in Barcelona, Spain, and Lisbon. The special skewed toward young women, scoring a 0.9 among women aged 18-34, close to ABC’s episode of “Rising Star” that earned a 1.0 in that demographic.
CBS’ “Big Brother” was the top-rated broadcast show on a quiet Sunday night of the July Fourth holiday weekend. Meanwhile “Reckless” rose a bit from last week’s weak series debut to a 0.7, but “Unforgettable” dropped 22% week-to-week also for a 0.7.
The privacy-deprived house guests drew a 1.8 in the 18-49 demo (about even with last week’s Sunday premiere), in which a ratings point equals about 1.3 million viewers.
Elsewhere, “Rising Star” -- ABC’s take on the TV singing contest format -- held steady with last week’s rating of 1.2 in 18-49.
Fox was all reruns, except for a special telecast of “Brain Games” that earned a 0.5.
