SAG Awards 2013: Show highlights

Anne Hathaway accepts the award for female actor in a supporting role for her performance in “Les Miserables.”

“I’m just so thrilled I have dental,” she breathlessly joked and went on to thank her family and fellow actors in “Les Miz” and “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Alec Baldwin accepts the award for male actor in a comedy series for his performance in “30 Rock.”

Tina Fey accepts the award for female actor in a comedy series for her performance in “30 Rock.” It is her fifth SAG award.

“I share this with everyone else in our cast,” she said. “I share this with my sweet friend Amy Poehler whom I’ve known for so long. I’ve stolen so many of her moves. Amy, I’ve known you since you were pregnant with Lena Dunham.”  (Robert Gauthier / Los Angeles Times)

The cast of “Modern Family” accepts the SAG award for ensemble in a comedy series. It is their third consecutive win in the category.

“I think we’d be doing the evening a great disservice if we didn’t mention the brilliant departing casts of ’30 Rock’ and ‘The Office,’” said Jesse Tyler Ferguson, accepting the award for his castmates. “You’ve all set the comedy bar so high.”  (Robert Gauthier / Los Angeles Times)

Julianne Moore accepts the award for female actor in a TV movie or miniseries for her performance in “Game Change.” It was her first win but 10th SAG nomination.

“This means so much to me coming from all the actors who voted,” she said.

Award winner Alec Baldwin presents SAG’s Life Achievement Award to Dick Van Dyke.

Dick Van Dyke accepts the Screen Actors Guild’s Life Achievement Award.

“It’s such a thrill! Thank you,” the veteran comedian said. “I’ve knocked around this business for 70 years, and I still haven’t quite figured out what it is I do? Aren’t we lucky to have found a line of work that doesn’t require growing up?”

He went on to praise his peers.

“I’m looking at the greatest generation of actors in the history of acting, and you’ve all lifted the art to another place now,” he said. “And besides that, you’re everywhere. Bryan Cranston accepts the award for male actor in a drama series for his performance in “Breaking Bad.” It is his first win.

Claire Danes accepts the award for female actor in a drama series for her performance in “Homeland.” It is her second win. She received her first SAG award for her role in “Temple Grandin.”

Daniel Day-Lewis accepts the SAG award for male actor in a leading role for his performance in “Lincoln.” It is his third win.

“Every single cast member ... gave their characters the kiss of life,” he said. “Have no doubt that this is an ensemble award.”

Day-Lewis said his motto for his role was the Hippocratic Oath -- “First, do no harm.”
