Insomniac, the L.A.-based EDM concert promoter, presents some of the biggest events in dance music. Now, it’s going to be responsible for some of the music going into the mix consoles as well.
The firm has announced a partnership with Interscope Geffen A&M to form Insomniac Records, a new EDM-focused record label. While Interscope and its offshoot Cherrytree Records have some dance artists (Disclosure, RAC), this will be the major label group’s first EDM-devoted imprint.
“Pasquale [Rotella’ and Insomniac have built and nurtured an amazing culture, and we’re excited to be a part of it,” John Janick, chief operating officer and president of Interscope Geffen A&M, said in a statement.
The label’s first release will be a single from the Russian producer Arty, with a full LP to come later this year. The producer is a fixture at Insomniac events like Electric Daisy Carnival, and posted a clip of the single “Up All Night” at his SoundCloud.
