Whitney Houston biopic to premiere Jan. 17 on Lifetime

“Whitney,” a Lifetime movie directed by Angela Bassett and starring Yaya DaCosta as Whitney Houston, will premiere Jan. 17.
The film will examine the stormy relationship between the troubled singer-actress and singer Bobby Brown, tracing their courtship and tumultous marriage. Arlen Escarpeta (“Final Destination 5”) portrays Brown.
Houston’s vocal performances in the film will be sung by Deborah Cox. Some of the songs featured will be “The Greatest Love of All,” “I Will Always Love You,” “I’m Your Baby Tonight,” “I’m Every Woman” and Brown’s “Every Little Step.”
The premiere will be followed by the hourlong documentary “Beyond the Headlines: Whitney Houston,” featuring interviews with friends, colleagues and industry insiders who will offer insight into Houston’s career and the tragic circumstances of her downfall.
