Cuba, Spain to cooperate on transportation

Havana, May 16 (EFE). — Spanish Development Minister Ana Pastor and Cuban Transport Minister Adel Yzquierdo signed here Monday a memorandum of understanding outlining plans for cooperation in the transportation sector.
The agreement will benefit both countries, as Spanish companies are interested in helping the island develop its infrastructure, Pastor said during an official visit to Cuba.
The MOU calls for bilateral collaboration in the planning and management of road transport, the setting of rules for maritime transport, management of rail services and train maintenance, as well as airport management services.
The document, to which EFE had access, also contemplates potential cooperation on the financial structuring of projects, the development of training programs for engineers and other professionals and the promotion of technological development and innovation in the transport sector.
