June at the farmers market
- 1
Just in Blenheim apricots: You can find several different varieties of apricots at the farmers market -- Pattersons, Castlebrites, Gold Bars and a couple of others -- but to my taste, the king of the California ‘cots is the Blenheim.
- 2
Just in Zucchini flowers: Though female zucchini flowers with the little squash still attached are cute, the best ones for cooking are the boys, which have nothing but stem.
- 3
Peaking Green garbanzos: Fresh garbanzo beans have been showing up from time to time at farmers markets for a few years now, but these are something a little different.
- 4
Just in Persian mulberries: Quite frankly, they often don’t look like a fruit so sought-after that farmers have to hide them behind the counter.
