A collision involving a car and a motorcycle in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon left one person dead and caused delays during rush-hour traffic.
The accident occurred about 3 p.m. at the intersection of Cesar Chavez Avenue and Broadway, said a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department.
The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The car’s driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said.
The intersection, located one block from the 101 Freeway, was closed, snarling rush-hour traffic. Police were expected to open the roadway about 6 p.m.
