Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes Bakersfield area

A shallow, magnitude-3.0 earthquake struck Tuesday, centered near Wofford Heights, Calif., in Kern County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 12:06 p.m. at a depth of 5.6 miles.
The USGS said the epicenter was 37 miles from Bakersfield and 36 miles from Tehachapi, Calif.
In the past 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
