A 43-year-old man suffered serious injuries early Sunday when one of four would-be robbers attacked him with a machete while trying to steal his bicycle, Los Angeles police said.
The man was riding his bike about 12:30 a.m. when four men emerged from a green, four-door sedan and attacked him near the intersection of West 12th Street and South Burlington Avenue, said Officer Liliana Preciado.
“After he was attacked with the machete, the suspects got back in the vehicle and left the scene,” she said.
The victim, whose identity was not released, ran a couple of blocks to the intersection of 11th and Burlington, where paramedics found him with serious lacerations, Preciado said.
The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment but he is expected to recover from his wounds, she said.
No arrests had been made.
