No sex assault charges filed yet against UCLA football player

The L.A. County District Attorney’s office has not made a decision yet on whether to file charges against UCLA offensive lineman Torian White, who was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.

White was taken into custody early Sunday at an apartment complex on Glenrock Avenue near UCLA after campus police responded to a call about 3 a.m. of a disturbance there, officials said.

Prosecutors received the case from UCLA police but said further investigation would be needed, said Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office.

White, a student at UCLA since fall 2011, has not played since injuring his right leg during an Oct. 3 game at Utah. He was immediately suspended from the team following his arrest.

“We are aware of the situation involving Torian White, and we take these accusations very seriously,” said UCLA football coach Jim Mora in a statement issued by the university.

“Torian has been suspended from the team indefinitely while the legal process and student discipline process run their course,” Mora continued. “Due to the ongoing police investigation, we are unable to discuss this matter further at this time.”
