A tow-truck driver was followed and then shot to death Sunday in South Gate after repossessing a car, authorities said.
The driver, described only as a 50-year-old man, was possibly followed by multiple vehicles after he repossessed the car in Compton, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. It was at the corner of Rosecrans and Atlantic avenues where shots reportedly rang out around 4 a.m.
The driver, still in his truck with the repossessed vehicle in tow, drove east on Firestone Boulevard until colliding with a car at Rayo Avenue. When the driver got out of his truck, he was shot to death by at least one shooter around 4:10 a.m., according to the Sheriff’s Department.
The driver was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
