State Capitol on lockdown
Springfield firefighter Jonathan Gordon, a member of the hazardous materials unit, rinses items retrieved from inside the Capitol after a woman threw a powdery substance in the governor’s office during the overtime session July 6, 2017, in Springfield. A preliminary analysis shows the substance wasn’t hazardous, which prompted authorities to reopen the building after Thursday’s roughly two-hour lockdown.
