IRVINE - With five minutes remaining, Costa Mesa High junior Eli
Solis scored to lead the Mustangs’ boys soccer team to a 1-0 Pacific
Coast League victory over host Northwood Friday.
Mesa senior Jonathan Contreras assisted on the goal as the Mustangs
(11-5-1, 5-2 in league) continued in a tie with crosstown rival
Estancia.]
Costa Mesa goalie Bryce Sheridan finished with four saves in what
Mustangs’ Coach Eugene Day called, “a long battle.”
Mesa will now host Estancia in a makeup game today at 10 a.m.
“Our boys are ready,” Day said of today’s matchup with the Eagles.
“Estancia has a good team, but we want it more. (The Mustangs) are so
hungry. We have been dominating every team we have played, but we have to
find the back of the net.”
Northwood dropped to 4-2-1 in the PCL.
