An upgrade for a community

Newport Beach Plaza celebrated a new beginning Wednesday, as city officials and others gathered for a ribbon-cutting and reception in honor of the retirement community’s $1-million renovation. The facility at 1455 Superior Ave. recently finished a new garden terrace, dining room, carpeting and more. The changes marked Newport Beach Plaza’s first extensive renovation in 10 years.
Sue Fractman, a community resource representative for the plaza, said residents had warmed up to the new grounds already.
“At the library, you used to just see people there if they were reading,” she said. “Now, you just see them sitting and enjoying the space.”
