A man was arrested early Thursday on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit and run after a vehicle crashed into a fence in Huntington Beach.
Police received a call at about 1:30 a.m. from a beach maintenance worker who saw a Mitsubishi Eclipse crash into a wooden fence near Seapoint Street and Pacific Coast Highway, Officer Jennifer Marlatt said.
The driver and a passenger fled on foot, Marlatt said. Two people were later detained by officers.
Ben Zagok, 22, whom police identified as the driver, was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange for treatment of minor injuries. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and hit and run and released, Marlatt said. His city of residence was not disclosed.
The person believed to be the passenger was uninjured and was not arrested, police said.
