Reporting from Cincinnati — The Dodgers scratched Hanley Ramirez from the starting lineup Wednesday because of what the team called irritation in his right shoulder.
The Dodgers did not immediately provide any other information about his condition.
Ramirez, 30, is eligible for free agency this fall. The Dodgers have said they hope to sign him to a new contract, but they have held off in part to see how he holds up.
Ramirez has played in 62 of the Dodgers’ first 66 games this season, batting .256 with 10 home runs. He was on the disabled list twice last season and played in just 86 games.
Miguel Rojas started for Ramirez at shortstop Wednesday.
