It’s back to the old times, when either Birmingham or Taft won the West Valley League football championship during the days of Ed Croson and Troy Starr.
The two teams are set to play on Thursday night at 7 o’clock at Birmingham to decide this year’s title.
“I wouldn’t mind having Malik Jackson,” Birmingham Coach Jim Rose said. “I’m sure they wouldn’t mind having Malcolm Smith.”
Taft (5-3, 3-0) has won four consecutive games. Birmingham (3-5, 3-0) has won three in a row.
The former coaches are rooting for their former teams.
Starr, now the head coach at Helix in San Diego, said via text, “Good luck Taft!!”
Croson, now the head coach at Chaminade, said, “I’m still rooting for Birmingham.
