Elijah Asante said Tuesday night he has been released as football coach at Compton after one season.
Asante, who previously coached at Carson, L.A. Jordan and St. Paul, expressed disappointment in the decision.
“This is a cold day in my life,” he said in a statement. “The principal told me I am not a good fit for Compton. My time at Compton, although brief, was very fulfilling. My boys gave their best effort in practice and games.”
Compton had a 1-9 record competing in the Moore League.
