Football: It’s the battle for public-school supremacy in Orange County
- Share via
Mission Viejo (3-0) and La Habra (2-0), two of the top public-school football teams in Orange County, face off in a nonleague game on Friday night at La Habra.
Mission Viejo is ranked No. 1 in the West Valley Division. La Habra is ranked No. 2 in the Southwest Division.
Both teams have experienced senior quarterbacks in Brock Johnson (Mission Viejo) and Eric Barriere (La Habra). Barriere has completed 21 of 33 passes for 452 yards and eight touchdowns.
“It’s fun to play in big games,” La Habra Coach Frank Mazzotta said. “Their kids are well coached and they’re serious about their football. We have to match their toughness, physicality and speed.”
Barriere will be trying to get the ball to La Habra’s top athletes.
