Football: John Smith, Iman Marshall lead LB Poly to 23-0 halftime lead

After escaping with a first-round win over Orange Lutheran, No. 3-seeded Long Beach Poly is flexing its muscles behind John “Juju” Smith and Iman Marshall to take a 23-0 halftime lead over St. Bonaventure in a Pac-5 Division quarterfinal game at Ventura College.

Smith has a nine-yard touchdown reception and a 62-yard TD run. Marshall has been magnificent on defense, shutting down tight end Bryce Dixon and helping the Jackrabbits hold St. Bonaventure to 24 total yards offense.

Jeremy Calhoun has a three-yard touchdown reception.

St. John Bosco leads Tesoro, 35-0. Alemany leads Servite, 14-0.

In the City Section, Narbonne leads Birmingham, 14-13. Venice leads San Pedro, 21-7. Crenshaw leads Dorsey, 21-0.
