Football: Lots of quarterfinal showdowns in City Section playoffs

So far, so good for most of the higher seeds in the City Section football playoffs. Now come the real showdowns in the quarterfinals.

In Division I, we’ll get to finally see what all the fuss was about at the seeding meeting last week. No. 8 Arleta will be at No. 1-seeded San Pedro; No. 5 Crenshaw will be at No. 4 Carson; No. 6 Dorsey will be at No. 3 Narbonne, and No. 2 Garfield will host No. 7 Birmingham. Crenshaw-Carson should be a good one.

In Division II, it’s No. 8 Lincoln at No. 1 Hamilton; No. 5 South Gate vs. No. 4 University (probably at Venice); No. 11 Chatsworth at No. 3 Sylmar; No. 10 San Fernando at No. 2 Eagle Rock. The only upsets were Chatsworth over No. 6 Huntington Park and San Fernando over No. 7 Verdugo Hills.

In Division III, it will be No. 9 View Park at No. 1 Los Angeles; No. 12 Poly at No. 4 Hawkins; No. 6 Santee at No. 3 Monroe, and No. 7 Rancho Dominguez at No. 2 Bernstein.
