Football: Upland comes back for overtime victory over Corona Santiago

After getting routed by Mater Dei and Oaks Christian to open the season, Upland’s future didn’t look promising. But the Highlanders have come back to win three consecutive games, including a 43-42 overtime victory over Corona Santiago on Friday night.
Trevor Wright caught a nine-yard touchdown in overtime and then caught the game-winning two-point conversion. He caught nine passes for 145 yards. Tyler Hilinski had four touchdown passes.
San Diego Cathedral Catholic upset Vista Murrieta, 35-28. Chris Moliga rushed for 169 yards and scored four touchdowns.
Loyola’s Nico Evans rushed for 245 yards and scored four touchdowns in a 49-29 victory over Mira Costa.
San Fernando improved to 5-0 with a 68-20 victory over Van Nuys. Playing only in the first half, Cristian Solano passed for 275 yards and four touchdowns. Jose Camargo caught five passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns Freshman Alex Gonzalez had 124 yards rushing and scored two touchdowns.
Lavell Thompson rushed for 228 yards and scored five touchdowns in 10 carries to lead South Gate past L.A. Jordan, 50-6. Alex Flatos had 170 yards rushing and scored two touchdowns.
South East is 5-0 after a 30-14 win over Bell. Locke is 4-1 after a 42-7 win over Jefferson.
Chris Colarossi scored four touchdowns in Sherman Oaks Notre Dame’s 45-21 win over Canyon Country Canyon.
Mater Dei stayed unbeaten with a 21-7 win over Edison.
