Volleyball: L.A. Cathedral bids for third consecutive title

L.A. Cathedral is becoming a volleyball school. The Phantoms will be bidding for their third consecutive Southern Section Division 4 championship on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. against Bishop Montgomery at Cerritos College.
For Coach Mike Godoy, leading the team has been 6-foot-4 outside hitter Alejandro Albarran and setter Jonathan Alvarez.
Also making major contributions has been sophomore Joseph Ypil-Campana, a 5-9 middle blocker with terrific jumping skills.
There are five championship matches set for Cerritos College, including the Division 1 final between Loyola and Huntington Beach at 7:30 p.m.
In Division 5, Saddleback Valley Christian will play Garden Grove at 9 a.m. In Division 3, South Pasadena will face Gahr at 11:30 a.m. In Division 2, Esperanza will play Laguna Beach at 2 p.m.
